Arriving at the South Island - Queen Charlotte Sound
and Picton then down towards Christchurch
This group and following groups belonging to this South Island series were taken on a trip in the summer of 1963/64. Starting at the inter-island ferry terminal at Picton, travelling down the east coast to Dunedin, then back up through the centre of the island, returning to Picton.

The entrance to Tory Channel - from the GMV Aramoana. GMV (Government Motor Vessel) - because, at this time, the inter-island ferries were a part of the government owned railways. The railways, and the ferries, have since been privatized. (Update - now back in Government ownership - Kiwirail.)
