Chilean Navy Training Ship Esmeralda on a visit to Auckland. The Esmeralda was originally planned for the Spanish Navy in 1942 but was never completed and was offered to the Chilean Navy. Building was finished and she joined the Chilean Navy in 1954.

Across the railway yards to Mechanics Bay. The building on the right was the Tasman Empire Airways flying boat passenger terminal. The last flight by a flying boat was from Fiji to Mechanics Bay on September 15th, 1960. This aircraft is now at the MOTAT Museum in Auckland. Taken 3rd September, 1960.
